We have great news: Our new study, the REWIND Studie, has been completed! In this project, our research team developed a new questionnaire to measure emotions and thoughts mothers might have when returning to work after maternity leave, and aims to better understand how mothers in the Netherlands deal with this important transition.
Over a period of 7 months, three separate parts of the study were conducted. First, the interviews with mothers who returned to work in the past 12 months took place. During the interviews mothers shared their experience with our newly developed questionnaire, which helped us improve the measure. In the second part, 337 mothers who recently returned to work completed our new questionnaire online. Based on the results, we were able to select the most important statements of the questionnaire, and with that shorten the measure. Lastly, a sample of 307 mothers recently returning to work completed an online survey, including our newly developed measure and other relevant measures of their well-being and social support. With the results of this last part of the study, we will be able to determine whether our questionnaire measures what it was designed to measure, and study how Dutch mothers deal with the transition of going back to work. We are excited to see the results.
Our research team would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of the participants of our study for their time and great help! We could not do this without you!
