Vivian Vis

As part of my MSc Nutrition and Health, I am doing a research internship at the SMILEY study, where I help with collecting data during lab visits, as well as administrative and other supportive tasks. I am particularly interested in the development of the intestinal microbiota and the way it is linked with the immune and nervous system. For example, the microbiota-gut-brain axis greatly fascinates me, and I enjoy learning about the links between mental and physical health. Considering my aspiration to become a midwife, I believe that both the practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge that I gain during this internship will be of great value in my future career.
