Ciske Jansen – PhD Student

Ciske Jansen

My research focuses on infant development, particularly during the first 1000 days of life, a sensitive period that shapes lifelong outcomes. I am fascinated by how biological factors and parent-infant interactions influence development during this stage.

In my PhD, I will investigate the role of parent-infant physical closeness and its relationship to stress.  Specifically, I aim to understand how physical closeness affects the stress systems of mothers, fathers and infants, and how these effects may persist later in life. By uncovering part of the puzzle of how stress mechanisms develop, I hope to contribute to better ways of supporting mental and physical health during this challenging yet crucial period.
