Mini Moves Study

Parent-infant physical closeness is part of daily infant care and has been associated with positive outcomes in both children and parents. In Western society, however, it decreases dramatically over the first months. At the same time, parental stress and psychological complaints during the postpartum period are high. Parent-infant physical closeness may offer unique opportunities to support both new parents and child development.

In the Mini Moves study, we will examine outdoor baby carrying as a form of physical closeness between parent and infant. The added benefit of baby carrying outdoors remains unexplored while there is growing evidence of positive effects of walks in green environments on stress and mental wellbeing.
